Microbiological safety cabinet (Class II)
Hyzone class II microbiological safety cabinets are used to give operator, environment and product protection when handling dangerous biological materials. Hyzone cabinets are best suitable for handling microorganisms and pathogens as defined by the appropriate international standards, current health and safety guidelines and legislation aimed at safeguarding health and safety of operators at work.
Materials of Construction
- Main body: 1.2mm, 18 gauge steel with powder-coated finish
- Work table: 1.5mm, 16 gauge stainless steel, type 304
- Side walls: UV absorbing toughened glass (transparent)
- HEPA filters: For Vertical Down Flow (one) and Exhaust (two in series)
- H 14 as per EN 1822 – 99.997% @ 0.3 micron housed in a negative pressure envelope (shroud) to prevent escape of contaminated air to atmosphere and work area
Airflow Pattern
Unidirectional Vertical down flow with 70% re-circulated and 30% exhausted with makeup air coming in as inflow through table front perforations.
Average Air Flow Velocities with a uniformity of +/- 20%:
- Vertical down flow: 0.3 to 0.45 mps (60 to 90 fpm)
- Inflow: 0.45 mps (90 fpm)
Two independent hot-wire transmitters monitor real-time Down flow and Exhaust velocities.
Motor Blowers
- Single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz AC induction motors with backward curve impellers separate for Vertical down flow and exhaust air.
Control Panel
- Microprocessor-based control panel is located at the front of the equipment, away from the contaminated airflow path.
Work Area Illumination
- >1200 Lux (>100 foot candles) using fluorescent tube lights located on the front panel away from the work zone.
UV Light
- Interlocked and programmed to work only when blowers and fluorescent lamps are off and the front window is fully closed.
Service Connections
- 2 gas/vacuum cocks are provided on one side panel with provision for 2 more on the other side panel.
- 2 ports each are available on side panels for signal cables.
- Two 5 A female electrical sockets with switches are provided on the unit’s back panel.
Mounting Stand, Front Sash, and Arm Rest
- Powder-coated square pipe mounting stand with castor wheels and locking arrangement is provided.
- Ergonomic design includes angled front sash with counterweights, magnetic switches for door positions, arm rest, eye-level LCD displays, alarms, etc., for operator comfort.
Testing and Certification
- Each unit is factory tested to meet international guidelines and dispatched in ready-to-plug and play condition with Operating Manual and IQ, OQ, PQ test certificates.
- Out of range or incorrect airflow velocity and frontal air barrier velocity
- Incorrect position of front sash-window
- Clogging of HEPA filters
- End of life-cycle of UV LAMP (if fitted)
- Out of range temperature
- NSF/ANSI 49 -2002 (National Sanitation Foundation, USA)
- EN 12469 -2000 (European Standard)
- AS 2252 -2004 (Australian Standard)
